“Never doubt that a small group of dedicated people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” -Margaret Mead
Kenexa believes in the power of dedicated people. As a company, Kenexa is committed to engaging employees and enhancing our commitment to the environment. Because environmentalists have discovered the earth is rapidly running out of resources, Kenexa must play a role in conserving and protecting what we have left. With our strong ethos of community service, could being “green” citizens be far behind? Most Kenexans are aware that green is the way to be, and many of them are surely trying to do their part to save the earth.
If each individual can make an impact, just imagine what many dedicated individuals working together can achieve. This thought prompted the formation of Kenexa’s Green Campaign, which aims to harness the collective strength of Kenexans across the globe to make a difference and reduce our carbon footprint.
This, of course, is easier said than done. But we are confident that all Kenexans—working together—can achieve this seemingly difficult objective. I say “seemingly difficult” because it’s actually easier to make a difference than one may think. Even the smallest act goes a long way. All we need to do is make a firm decision to save energy, live more responsibly and less wastefully, and educate others.
Kenexa has implemented the following Green Initiatives:
- Eliminating the use of Styrofoam: We have eliminated the use of Styrofoam products across all Kenexa locations. We encourage everyone to bring their own plates, silverware and cups to use while eating at work.
- Carpooling: We plan to establish an online carpooling service on kenexanet.com. Traveling Kenexans will be able to sign up stating they will be in a different office and indicate the type of assistance they need. Employees from that office can then sign up to assist their fellow Kenexans with rides to and from the airport, hotel and office.
- Recycling: Kenexa is recycling as much material as possible, including paper, cans, plastic, glass and other materials that can be reused.
In the words of Rudy Karsan: “Global warming is a matter of accepted fact today, and is perceived to be one of the primary risks facing humanity. The most important "green" thing we can do now is teach our children about saving the planet, and act as role models for them by consciously trying to do our utmost to reduce global warming. I believe that the way Kenexa will play a role in tackling this issue is that we’ll try and make ourselves a more environment-conscious organization.
We have a start with our new office coming up at Vizag in India. An energy management system is being installed, an abundance of natural vegetation is being added, and easy-to-open windows are being installed to allow a natural airflow and to make maximum use of natural light. We are also trying to buy more energy-efficient equipment and to talk to our landlords at all locations to help us try and make the offices more environment-friendly and energy efficient.”
